Leopard Chase

A fabulous golf course on the North End of the Grand Stand’s golf portfolio is Leopard's Chase, a championship golf course located just accross the border in Ocean Isle, North Carolina. Leopard’s Chase is only a short drive from Myrtle Beach. Experience one of the five Big Cat courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation. Designed by Tim Cate, Leopard’s Chase is one of the top rated golf courses in the region.

Leopard Chase

As a typical Cate design, the course features water both natural and man-made, over 7,100 yards of TifSport Bermuda fairways, and manicured L-93 Bentgrass greens. Leopard’s Chase is a scenic par 72 course with wide landing areas and changing elevated greens. Multi-tee positions make this course an excellent playing experience for all golfers. Cate created an awe-inspiring 18th-hole featuring a masterful cascading waterfall to steep undulating greens. Golfer’s take note…The 4th-hole has an unforgivably narrow fairway and the largest waterfall.

Golf course reviews in Golf Digest and Golf Magazine are continually hailing Leopard’s Chase as one of the Big Cat’s most extraordinary courses and as a “Top 10 Public Course” in America to play. Book your Myrtle Beach Tee Time now…play one of the top rated golf courses on the Grand Strand.

LC used to be our favorite course in the area but it has went to hell the last couple years. Was tempted to play there tomorrow but recent reviews tell the same sad story of bad conditions and s.... greens. Someone please but these CAT courses

Descent course. Employee’s very nice and accommodating. Greens need alittle work and never in my life have I saw cart paths that directed you into sand traps. I would play again though.

Greens are terrible... slow and dead spots all over them. Bunkers not raked. Driving range hadnt been mowed in forever. All the courses used to be good...it's obvious that they don't care about any of the course conditions. By far the worst courses in the area. These courses are off the list. The only bright spot was Brenda, the beverage cart person....she gets 5 stars.

This course has really gone down hill. A year or two ago the course was fantastic. Yesterday it was terrible. Greens were not mowed. Every sand trap has been neglected - washed out with deep ruts. In real need of some TLC. The lay-out and potential is enormous but they have obviously just let it go.

Ladies were very nice on staff. Rangers were rude and very annoying. If we broke rules sure, but these guys were simply rude. One water fountain and saw beverage cart twice in 5 hours. Will.not return

Low value. Course hadn't been mowed in a long time. Greens were thick and slow. Tee boxes were fair at best. Gone downhill in recent years.

Course needs a little love. Fair ways and green we're good but the rough was dead and full of weeds and bunkers were some soft and a mess some hard and wet. Not a ?? dollar course.

Played on April 4, 2019 on a glorious sunny day. The staff was excellent and the layout is very good. Starting at 9:00 am, the pace of play was excellent (playing in less than 4 1/2 hours). on what I thought was a very tough course. Keeping your ball in the fairway is of paramount importance, as there are lots of bunkers and water hazards. Conditions were generally good except for bunkers, noted below. This was my first time playing this course and I was disappointed in the lack of yardage markers. There were sprinkler heads marked, but none of them were obvious to find. Most quality courses in the Myrtle Beach area, paint around the sprinkler heads to make them stand out. No yardage markers/posts for 200, 150 or 100 yards. 150 yard markers are standard in this area. None of the greenside bunkers were raked. They were hard, crusty and had ruts, caused by water run off. If I was using a numerical score, I would rate this course, based on today's conditions 7 out of 10. Since I live on the Grand Strand, I would play this course again.

To be fair... The design of this course is fabulous. The condition however was poor. On a golf trip we played all 4 of the big Cats and this one was by far in the worst shape. The greens were spotty and not rolled. The ball bounced like crazy. To make it more frustrating there were sections of the greens that looked ok, but the pins were never on those areas. The fairways were brown and the rough was non existent. It was completely dead grass with soft wet dirt underneath. Basically, being 1 foot off the fairway felt like you were hitting off of pine straw. I would love to play this course later in the season if the maintenance was better because it really is a wonderful and beautiful layout.

Course layout is a 4.5. Greens are a 3. General conditions of the course are a 3. Service is a 1. We were a group of 6 and the second group had to wait 30 minutes to get a golf cart. Not a well managed golf course!

We were misled about the condition of the course, especially the greens and not offered a discount or concession on fees. We were charged full green fees and we're not told about the condition until the starter informed us and apologized for the courses condition. This after we called twice to confirm the condition of the greens and we're told all is good. Once a regular on our annual rotation is now off the list forever. Just be honest and offer a fair rate for the current condition of the course.

Tried to play on Sept 23 and walked off after 7 holes. Totally unplayable greens. Patchy, muddy, sandy...the course shouldn't even be open. Rest of course looked pretty rough as well. Tee boxes poor and shaggy fairways. Don't waste your time or money when there are so many great options in Myrtle.

Course is a good test and always in great shape. This year though, 11 inches of rain over norm and high heat is stressing all courses. Cannot wait for our return trip. Great staff as always makes the experience that much more enjoyable

5 stars for friendly service at the bag drop, pro shop, and adequate beverage service on the course. Fortunately this courses has bent grass greens and the condition was good but they certainly weren't as fast as one would expect on a higher end course. Interesting, difficult layout, plenty of water and waste bunkers, shot makers course yet fair. Smaller pro shop, this is more of a satellite location for the Big Cats but by far the best course of the four.

The course is beautiful and the staff is great, Bob the starter and Roy the Ranger were very friendly and helpful. The food in the snack bar was terrific, had the best breakfast sandwich ever and a delicious lunch. The 2 ladies that work in the snack bar couldn’t be nicer and they obviously take pride in their food and exceptional customer service. The pro shop staff was also friendly. I hope to be back and I recommend this golf course.
