Alligator Adventure

Alligator Adventure, the world’s largest reptile park, is located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The park houses over 800 alligators, including two rare albino alligators. Tourists walk on boardwalks above the alligators and can observe these magnificent reptiles at a safe distance. Trained professionals, who feed these creatures, ranging in size from 8-inch newborns to impressive 15-foot adults, give lectures.

This is also the home of Utan, King of the Crocs, known as the largest crocodile ever on exhibit in the United States. At 20 feet long and weighing more than 1000 pounds, it is highly recommended visitors stop in to see the massive Utan. Visitors can also observe other reptile houses in the expansive serpent house. Many snakes are on display, including the giant Green Anaconda, which can reach a length of 37 feet.

They house many poisonous snakes as well, including the 18-foot King Cobras. Tortoises, exotic birds, frogs and even Komodo Dragons are on display at Alligator Adventure. The awe-inspiring Galapagos Tortoises weigh up to 700 pounds and their keeps often call them “puppies with shells”.

Although this park is named for a famous reptile, it is not strictly a reptilian park. There are many exhibits with large cats including Siberian tigers, and lemurs and squirrel monkeys can be seen as well.
